What inspired you to write your first book?

My first book was inspired by seeing a man in a small town with his daughter. He was brooding and concentrating, and there was just something about the way he was staring out without looking at something. Then his daughter walked up to him and he picked her up. It was evident that he loved her and she wrapped herself around him. It was sweet and I was struck with my first character, Jess Carter, and his daughter, Katie. I saw him the next day (never met him). He was an audio system installer and I wondered what would it be like to restore or install sound systems when your own child did not speak. Bam! Idea sparked for Sound Advice.

How did you come up with the title?

My current works are based around a modernization of the legend of King Arthur and his nights. The Legendary Rock Stars were born from the concept of taking these classic tales and turning the heroes into rock gods of today. The Legend of Arturo King and the upcoming, The Story of Lansing Lotte, play off that idea.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

In all my novels, I want people to see that love conquers all. It crosses barriers that seem impossible. It changes lives forever, for the good. It tackles trouble and solves it. I believe in happily ever afters in whatever form they come in.

What are your current projects?

I’m working on finishing The Sensations Collection: Sound Advice, Taste Test, Fragrance Free, and Touch Screen are all published with Sight Words, the final story, coming in June. I’m also working on completing the Legendary Rock Star Series.

Do you see writing as a career?

I would absolutely love for it to be a career, but for now motherhood and my day job monopolize that dream.

Do you have any advice for other writers?

For new authors, just do it. But have beta readers and a good editor. Then figure out what a blog is and do takeovers (figure out what those are too). I didn’t know to do any of this when I pushed publish and I’ve been swimming upstream ever since. But don’t be afraid, that’s what I’d say.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you for being a reader. Thank you for taking a chance on an indie author. It means the world to me that you read and liked my work, and I hope to keep stories coming that will touch you the same as the Carter and Scott families, and The Nights rock band.
