Stars: 4

I have not been fortunate enough to read any of the other works by Ms. David but I am going to change that now. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Garrison Taggert grew up on cattle ranch and is taking over for his father. He has a lot of responsibility that has landed on his shoulders. His wife left him after draining their bank account and now he is raising his son with the help of his father and sister. The ranch is in financial trouble and to top it all off Garrison has a parent/teacher conference with his son’s second grade teacher Sara Lopez.

Sara grew up in Copper River and just came back to pay off her student loans working in the school district there. She raises a concern with Garrison about his son getting bullied and that the boys are the principal’s nephews. Garrison already thinks she just got the job by dating the principal’s brother and the parent/teacher conference spirals out of control from there.

Putting aside her misgivings about dating a student’s parent she gives in and goes on a date with Garrison. But do either of them really have time for romance? Sarah just wants to pay off her debt to the school system and get out of dodge and Garrison is so wrapped up in his ranch business and the feud with the Brand’s.

The Brand’s ranch and the Taggart’s ranch share a border and Hank is constantly pressuring the Taggart’s to sell the ranch to him. Hank, being Sara’s ex, puts a whole other spin on things. Hank thinks he can still control Sara and he says he will put her job in jeopardy if she continues to see Garrison. With the narrowminded community and Sara’s own checkered past she doesn’t want to stand out more.

When tragedy strikes and Zach, Garrison’s son, is kidnapped from school Sara feels responsible. When the two of them end up in an abandoned cabin together with snow piling up and freezing temperatures will Garrison make it in time to save them both? With the family’s supernatural powers aid them in finding them in time?

Ashley’s Review of GRIT-Sector 1 The Uprising by Rebecca Sherwin

 Ashley’s-🛍🛍🛍🛍🛍 Review

Book: The Uprising (GRIT Sector 1)

Author: Rebecca Sherwin

Release date: September 23, 2016

Genre: Romantic Suspense/ Dark Romance

Series: GRIT Sector 1 book 2

Stars: 4.5

Fantastic continuation!!! I was hesitant to read this book because I was confused for most of book one, but I couldn’t put this book down. I was absolutely hooked from the prologue.

Trixie lets her inner twisted, dark, homicidal maniac out in this book. She is also very sexual in this book and loves the more Elias hurts her physically. She just doesn’t know which Elias she’s going to get and though she “loves” all of them, she especially likes the sadistic one.

Elias is more controlling and demanding in this book. Elias thinks he wants Trixie to be the little obedient wife, but he gets off when she is defiant. He likes punishing Trixie as much as she does taking the punishment.

But there is an entity at work here that threatens everything that GRIT stands for, another vigilante group. They threaten the very core of principles that makes up GRIT. Will Elias and Trixie be able to stand king and queen of GRIT or will they succumb to the vigilante group?

So many twists and turns I didn’t know which way was up. That being said I wanted to throw my kindle at the ending!!!! I just can’t believe Ms. Sherwin would end it like that, I NEED to know the rest.

Ashley’s Review of Falling Sweetly by Aidan Willows

Ashley’s 4.5-🛍🛍🛍🛍🛍 Review

Book: Falling Sweetly

Author: Aidan Willows

Genre: Romantic Comedy/ Contemporary Romance

Release Date: September 19, 2016

Series: Starling Falls #2

Stars: 4.5

I am an absolute fan of Ms. Willows. I love how her characters are so relatable. I could picture myself as Annika with all of her insecurities and understated strength.

Annika (Nikki) Abbot is a shy pastry chef who inherited a bakery after her great aunt dies. She doesn’t have the self confidence to go after any man and she has major self doubts. Nikki has an awkwardness about her that is so endearing to me.

Jacob (Jake) Jameson is the head chef at a fine dining restaurant. He wants Nikki, but she’s been avoiding him like the plague since the New Years party. When Jake get a devastating review from the fine dining reviewer his world slowly starts to fall apart.

Jake with the help of Nikki start on a joint adventure to help Jake open up a family-style restaurant. But then disaster strikes. From sabotage to vandalism, will Jake ever be able to open the restaurant?

If you are looking for a heartwarming story this is the one. I highly recommend this book!!!

Ashley’s Review of Awakening Kiss by Sharon Kay

Ashley’s 4.5-🛍🛍🛍🛍🛍 Review

Book: Awakening Kiss

Author: Sharon Kay

Release Date: September 13, 2016

Series: A Watcher’s Kiss 4

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Stars: 4.5

This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I was still impressed. She just takes paranormal to a whole new level. I love Rhys and Ezna’s story.

Ezna is raised by an Italian mother and grandparents never knowing who her father is. She is part owner of a bakery, where she is the only one that does the baking because electronics go haywire around her. She stays past closing to finish the trays for tomorrow and runs into trouble on her way home. She is caught in a supernatural crossfire and falls through a portal, but not before Rhys grabs her ankle and tumbles after her.

Rhys is a Lash demon and part of the Watchers. It seems like a good idea at the time to follow Ezna into the portal and extract information from her, but to Rhys’ surprise she doesn’t know about his world or what she is. Rhys is having a hard time believing that she has no knowledge of anything supernatural or other beings.

Rhys and Ezna’s chemistry is a subtle burn that keeps heating up. Rhys is really protective of her without being overbearing. When a man from Ezna’s past makes an appearance will Rhys be able to protect her or will she be lost to him forever?

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal romance.

Ashley’s Review of Beneath the Skin by Daryl Banner

Ashley’s 4.5-🛍🛍🛍🛍🛍 Review

Book: Beneath the Skin

Author: Daryl Banner

Release Date: September 11, 2016

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Series: A College Obsession Romance

Stars: 4.5

True to form, Mr. Banner writes a funny, light-hearted romance with a few unexpected twists. If you didn’t read Read My Lips, the first book in this wonderful series, you won’t be lost because this book is a standalone but I recommend reading it because it introduces the main character of this story.

Brant is self proclaimed lover of women. He’s a love them and leave them type. He basically flits from one college coed to the next never becoming attached and never developing feelings for any of them.

Then comes Nell. Their first encounter is when Nell finds Brant in a compromising situation in the back of her art class. Brant is captivated by her from that first meeting, but Nell uses her sarcastic standoffish attitude to not let him get too close.

Surprisingly Nell ends up pushing Brant away. Their is such a sadness in Nell that breaks my heart. Will Nell help Brant reform his man-whoring ways of will Nell just be another notch on his belt? I really enjoyed Nell and Brant’s journey through the choppy waters of college life.

This author is new to me, but I want MORE!!! Absolutely fabulous writing and development of characters. I personally could really relate to Jasmine, the author just brought the characters to life for me.

Her unique ability is to sense paranormals and be able to tell what variety of paranormal they are. Once they are led to their captors Jasmine has an instant attraction to one of her captors and it comes as a shock to her because he is not human.
Eric the captor that Jasmine has an instant connection with is a vampire, not just any vampire he was born a vampire. That means he has special powers that humans that are bitten don’t have. But Eric is deep undercover and has no time for a the complications of a hook up.
